About Us The Boston Area Guild of Puppetry, Chapter #9 of the Puppeteers of America, was chartered in 1961. The Guild meets bi-monthly, usually at the Puppet Showplace Theatre, 32 Station Street; Brookline MA. BAGOP has also hosted Days of Puppetry, Regional and National Festivals, and performances by world-class puppeteers. We generally meet every other month, starting in September, on the 2nd Sunday of the month (the one exception to that is May, when it falls on Mother's day, in which case we meet the following Sunday). There's potluck dinner at 5, followed by the evening's program, followed by a brief guild business meeting. We also usually do a "where you at" segment for show and tell and member announcements. For more information on BAGOP, contact the Guild President. Benefits of membership include a bi-monthly newsletter, The Control Stick, full of interesting and informative articles, news, and reviews of puppetry around New England and beyond. Members are also entitled to a listing on our guild website, an email discussion list, and other perks such as the opportunity to apply for scholarship assistance to attend a P of A festival, discounted tickets to the Puppet Showplace Theater, and assistance with mounting a peer review. For information on how to become a member, come to one of our guild meetings, or contact the Membership Coordinator. For more information on The Control Stick, or to submit an article, contact our awesome Newsletter Editor. Other events in which BAGOP is involved include the Puppet Slams: cabaret-style evenings of adult puppetry; and also "Puppets: Education Magic," a conference held each summer on puppetry in education. For inflrmation on "Puppets: Education Magic," contact Judith O'Hare. For information on our website, or to update any information, contact the Webmaster.
